Head Boy & Head Girl welcome

Welcome to Ribbon, the perfect place for any teacher or pupil. We are a friendly school that makes learning an enjoyable experience. All our staff are inspirational and always willing to help and support any student who needs it. As children take their journey through Ribbon, they will discover how to become a good learner, listener and grow up to be mature and responsible citizen.

Ribbon Virtues

Our Ribbon Virtues are based on ‘Character Traits’ that we promote through everything we do. The RESPECT framework supports our whole school approach to be able to help all stakeholders to develop their Resilience, Empathy, Self-awareness, Positivity, Excellence, Communication and Teamwork.

We try to be the very best version of ourselves by incorporating these virtues in our daily life at school and at home.

Facilities

Ribbon has amazing facilities. Our school has 21 spacious classrooms, a Reading Zone, Reading Sheds, a Design Studio, two poly tunnels, a Music Room, x2 Sensory Zones and lots of break out spaces for quiet learning. All rooms are beautiful, well maintained and include under floor heating (wow!). In addition, all classrooms have state-of-the-art interactive whiteboards with pens and rubbers, some of which are touchscreens. We have a large Hall and smaller Dance Studio that are used for assemblies, P.E and lunch. These spaces are also used for Breakfast and after school clubs. Our hard-working kitchen staff provide mouth-watering meals every day. As well as this, the Hall has a bespoke climbing wall – we all love to climb! The Hall is where all our school productions happen every year. Some of the productions in the past have included Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Mary Poppins, Grease and The Wizard of Oz.

Another thing important feature Ribbon has is a Computing Hub. Children use this for learning coding and lots of other important IT skills. The Computing Hub is a big area with 15 Microsoft PCs, an interactive touchscreen whiteboard, and a lap top trolley with over 25 laptops. To add to this, we have a Design Studio where we practice and develop our artistic skills. Mrs Ramirez is a computing whizz and teaches us everything we need to know!

Using their creative imaginations, in the Design Studio children will explore the wonderful world of art, whether it is painting like Picasso to sketching like Walt Disney. Our teachers are great at art and work hard to make everyone at Ribbon are artists too! Once upon a time there was a Reading Zone, a Reading Zone with a fantastic selection of books for all ages. Accelerated Reader is the programme we use to develop children’s love of reading; it also helps children choose the right level books for. Reading Plus helps us to be fluent readers. Furnished with a reading caddy and 5 comfy sofas, the Reading Zone is the perfect place to sit back, relax and enjoy a book.

Sport

Finished your book? Want to do something active? Well, you are in luck! Ribbon has 2 practically perfect playgrounds and 3 fabulous fields. Both playgrounds have gym equipment which children use to have fun and keep fit. Sport is at the heart of Ribbon, and we are lucky to be taught by Mr Curtis and other sports specialists. Children at Ribbon can take part in all sorts of competitions from athletics to football, from netball to botcha, from swimming to tennis; the list really is endless! Just like all the children in Ribbon, the plants that we grow are in good hands. Our 2 poly-tunnels, which are positioned on opposite sides of the school, are where we grow fruits, vegetables, and more. An incredibly important part to Nursery is Aleisha’s play park, a special place that we hold dear to our hearts at Ribbon. Mr Murray is our amazing Site Manager and has built installed a range of exciting play facilities throughout the site.

Conclusion

Ribbon is unique. However, it is not the building that makes it unique, it is the people. Everybody counts at Ribbon; everybody makes a difference. At Ribbon we are all braver than we believe, stronger than we seem and smarter than we think!
