School Lunches

At Ribbon Academy, we are proud to offer freshly prepared school meals that are cooked on site each day by our catering team. Our lunches are nutritious, balanced and designed to provide children with the energy they need to learn, play and thrive throughout the school day.

Each day, children can choose from a range of meal options, including vegetarian choices and access to a fresh salad selection. Water is available with every meal.

Children select their lunch choice during morning registration using Arbor. Menus are shared with parents and carers in advance, enabling families to discuss meal options at home and support children in making their choices. The current menu can be seen below. 

Our dedicated team of supervisory assistants ensure that lunchtime is a safe, enjoyable and positive experience for all children. As well as supporting children during their meal, they help create a welcoming environment where pupils can socialise and play with their friends.

As part of the Government’s Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme, all children in:

• Reception
• Year 1
• Year 2

are entitled to a free school meal every day.

For children in Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6), school meals are charged at:

• £2.80 per day
• £14.00 per week

Children are welcome to bring a packed lunch to school. We encourage families to provide healthy, balanced lunches that support children’s wellbeing and concentration throughout the day.

When providing a packed lunch, please note:

• Lunch boxes and bags should be clearly labelled with your child’s name.
• Water is available for all children, or pupils may bring their own drink.
• Cans, fizzy drinks and glass bottles are not permitted.
• Chocolate bars and sweets should not be included as part of a packed lunch.

If you wish to change your child’s lunch arrangement from school meals to packed lunches, or vice versa, we require 24 hours. Requests must be communicated to the school office in advance.

The safety and wellbeing of our children is extremely important to us. As we have pupils with severe allergies, Ribbon Academy is a nut-free school. We therefore ask that products containing nuts are not brought onto the school site as part of packed lunches or snacks.
