The Broad Areas of Need:

As a mainstream school, the majority of our pupils are expected to reach expected outcomes for their age. However, a small number of our pupils do have special educational needs and/or disabilities. Children with SEND have needs in the following four broad areas:

  • Cognition and learning
      Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
      Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)
  • Communication and interaction
      Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties
      Social, Emotional Difficulties
      Mental Health Difficulties
  • Sensory and/or Physical Difficulties
Gross Motor and Fine Motor Difficulties
      Hearing Impairments

Within Ribbon Academy, we adhere to the statutory guidance outlined within the SEND Code of Practice (2014) to ensure that all of our children’s needs are met. For more information on how we support medical needs, disabilities and specific learning needs, please contact our SENCo, who will be happy to discuss this in more detail.
